what’s the point

I named my new adventure Pointe la Vie, meaning Pointe Life, in an effort to reach and capture the lives of all artists in the dance and athletic worlds who … wait for it…point their TOES!!! I started out with ballerinas because it was the most obvious and also my biggest uncertainty.  I wasn’t sure I could truly capture the essence of who the ballerinas were through my photographs.  Just because I’m in love with all things dance related, doesn’t mean it’s that simple to take pictures of. You have to really know how to capture movement and be certain that your timing is right.

After conquering my initial fear and becoming completely enamored with it, I wanted to move on to the next obstacle.  Gymnasts. Now before you move any further know this….my intentions with this entire genre of photography is to showcase the beauty, talent and strength of all my clients OUTSIDE of their “typical” settings.  So, making sure to photograph them in an element that makes the viewer of the image wonder, and captivates their attention as to why it’s different than they were expecting.

Last week I had the pleasure of touring a newer facility at House of Dance Plano.  You can see that post HERE.  But, the secret that I didn’t share with you is that HDP shares a facility with Texas Champion Gymnastics.  HELLO!!!! Can you say opportunity right in front of me!!!

Texas Champion Gymnastics is the home to many competitors and champions at the local, state and national level.  Their programs are one of the few in the Dallas Metroplex that offer both a Women’s Team and a Men’s Team.  For more information about their competitive programs check out their >>>>WEBSITE<<<<<

While I was there, I took advantage of the opportunity to photograph a few young aspiring gymnasts.

So are you wondering, when are you going to photograph a gymnast the way you described above? In a different element, somewhere unexpected.  Well, I’m wondering the same thing.  I’m hoping to convince a few promising athletes that they’d LOVE the experience and would surely be surprised by the fun they’d have during our shoot.

These two young ladies, just may take some encouragement to get out of the gym and in front of my camera.

The whole point to all of this (pun intended) is to make the world aware of the beauty and athleticism of these talented individuals.  I will travel to the ends of the earth (if the price is right and a promising tasty meal is offered) to share how amazing my clients are.

I am currently available for commissioned photoshoots in the Dallas Metroplex area.  I am willing to travel, however additional fees will be incured.   If you or anyone you know may be interested please feel free to contact me via email at, michelle@michellestanderfer.com

Also, head over to Texas Champion Gymnastics to see their amazing facility and sign up for a few classes.  You never know, you may fall in love with it and never look back.

All my Best,
Michelle
