at the station

downtown dallas dance photography

Dance photography has been a long time dream of mine.  I, never in a million years, thought that I’d have the opportunity to create beautiful imagery with such talented dancers.

Last week I had a great idea to hop on the DART rail and stop at some of the stations and photograph dancers in that particular location.  I didn’t think anyone would agree that the idea was as great as I did (still working on that self confidence), but I was wrong.  Not only did I have one dancer, but two and two choreographers.  Now that was a surprise to me.

We hopped on at Parker Station and our first stop was Pearl St/Arts District.  The opportunities just in that first stop were endless and I could’ve wondered for hours, but I knew there were many more stops to see.

Here are a few, well more than a few, images from the shoot.

To my surprise, things started moving and flowing smoothly.  But then again, why shouldn’t it when you’re working with this much talent!  Our next stop was Union Station.  We had the most fun here!

Hannah and Liza absolutely KILLED it here!  Lena & Jodie were pulling out all the right moves and pushing the girls to their very best.  I can’t help but feel extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to work with these four.

If I’ve learned anything so far during the start up of this extraordinary journey, is that this is something I cannot do alone.  There is no way that I can pay attention to all aspects, from lighting, location, settings, and then positions, posing and technique for the dancers.  Definitely must have an assistant and choreographer on hand at all times.

I’ve decided that I will most likely not do another shoot without one!

The day ended at City Place and the girls were fantabulous (yes, I used that word).  Grace, style, professionalism.  I could go on with so many more descriptive words that define how incredibly amazing they were.  So many thanks to Liza, Hannah, Lena and Jodie for trecking thru all the train stations with me and allowing me to photograph their beautiful selves.

I can’t wait for the next adventure!  Who’s going with me?????
